Why You Should Watch It: The Faculty is one of those R-rated movies I somehow saw when I was 12 or 13-ish. I didn’t remember it well other than the boobs at the end, and that the kids were doing drugs. After watching it, it all went downhill pretty quick, with my new found greatness of boobs and trying every drug I could get my hands on, middle school was a rough five years. Thanks a lot, Hollywood. Watching The Faculty now, at the ripe age of 25 and ten years sober, I could really enjoy it. It’s the standard high school thriller/horror movie but more alien-y than a Scream or I Know What You Did Last Summer. I was also surprised by some of the names in the movie since they would have been meaningless to me (and most people) back then: Elijah Wood, Salma Hayek, Jon Stewart (sweet goatee), and fucking Usher. Who knew that Elijah played a bitch character that inevitably saves the day and gets the hot girl at the end, before Lord of the Rings? You know Frodo was swimming in hot elves when he went off to forever-land, big hairy feet and all. You know what they say about big hairy feet… Oh yeah, The Faculty, watch it if you enjoy 90s-00s teen movies or thrillers or just really like seeing a younger Jon Stewart with a goatee.
